Detox

Services. For over twenty years, our core principles have remained unchanged. Throughout this time, we have successfully helped thousands overcome various addiction challenges.

Ark House is entirely staffed by individuals who are in recovery themselves, each dedicated to a 12 Step program. Our team members are not only specialists in their fields but also trained counsellors and psychotherapists. This expertise enables us to implement our 12 Step program effectively and safely within the limited time we have to work with each individual.

We provide a safe environment with 24/7 support, allowing individuals to face and address the psychological roots of their addiction issues. Our cannabis addiction treatment is crafted to deliver the same level of thorough care and support.

Group therapy

Treatment

The treatment focuses on psychological addiction — the urge to self-medicate or engage in habitual behaviours. It encourages individuals to take an honest look at themselves, recognise the effects of substances on their health, life, and relationships, and break through the denial that often accompanies addiction. We assist individuals in identifying and changing harmful behaviour patterns, helping those affected to cultivate new, healthier habits that empower them to manage their feelings without relying on substances, particularly through alcohol addiction treatment.

Ark House offers a complete residential rehabilitation experience, guiding individuals through our well-established in-house 12 Step Therapy program.

Aftercare – Services

Addiction is acknowledged as a chronic disease, which, like any illness, disrupts the functioning of the body or mind and presents specific symptoms. While some illnesses, such as influenza, can be cured, others, like Type I Diabetes, require ongoing management. Addiction and alcoholism fall into this latter category, necessitating continuous management to prevent the condition from worsening and to avoid relapse. Our cannabis addiction treatment for instance, we provide personalised assistance for continuous recovery.

After the initial treatment, which focuses on stabilising and alleviating the immediate effects of addiction, consistent daily management becomes essential. The most successful method for this is the 12 Steps, in conjunction with participation in different support groups such as AA and NA.

At Free Rehab, we deliver comprehensive alcohol addiction treatment that makes use of our internal resources while also linking individuals to nearby 12 Step fellowships.

Aftercare – Services

Understanding addiction as a fluid process and acknowledging each individual’s unique role within it is crucial. Our organised series of 28 lectures/sessions tackles this, providing solutions through the 12 Step program. These sessions act as a thorough resource, establishing a foundational understanding of addiction and assisting individuals in recognising their place within these dynamics.

Group Therapy & Group Process

Peer mentoring is vital in breaking through the denial frequently linked to addiction, enabling individuals to see reflections of themselves in others who are facing similar struggles. This realisation can be incredibly healing. Our organised group sessions concentrate on specific themes and desired outcomes, promoting effective addiction treatment.

The group process involves how individuals engage and achieve together in a group environment. In addiction recovery, this often means openly addressing reactions to the behaviours of others without fear of backlash, encouraging healthy transformation and development.

Gambling Addiction

Problem gambling is the ongoing compulsion to gamble despite the adverse consequences it may bring. It is often identified by the damage it inflicts on the gambler or those around them, not just by the gambler’s actions. Problem gambling presents significant obstacles in controlling the time and money spent, leading to harmful effects on the individual, others, and the wider community.

Severe problem gambling, when it meets certain criteria, is diagnosed as clinical pathological gambling, which carries substantial social and familial costs. Previously classified by the American Psychiatric Association as an impulse control disorder, pathological gambling is now viewed as more similar to substance misuse disorders. This shift is due to the comparable ways both activate the brain’s reward systems, unlike disorders such as OCD, which are driven by heightened fear responses from the brain. Problem gambling frequently coexists with alcohol-related issues, with both conditions stemming from an underlying wish to change one’s emotional condition or pursue a blissful experience.
